Amedeo Scognamiglio, master Cameo carver

The hand behind the Cameo

Six generations,
one pair of hands.

I learned to carve before I learned to drive. Every AMEDEO Cameo still begins the same way it did in my grandfather’s workshop in Torre del Greco — one shell, a few burins, and the patience to let a face emerge from the stone.

Nothing here is mass-made. Each piece is carved by hand, signed, and meant to outlive us both. When you wear an AMEDEO, you carry a craft that is almost three hundred years old.

The "evil eye" is a concept that generally refers to a belief in the ability of some individuals to inflict harm or misfortune through their gaze. This concept is present in many cultures around the world, and is often associated with envy or jealousy.

The belief in the evil eye has a long history and dates back to many ancient cultures. It is found in various forms in religious traditions, mythology and folklore around the world. For example, ancient Greek and Roman texts reference the idea of the evil eye, and the belief is also present in many cultures in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
The practice of protecting oneself from the evil eye is as old as the belief itself. In many cultures, people use amulets, talismans or rituals to ward off or neutralize the effect of the evil eye. These may include objects such as jewelry, horns, hands made with certain gestures, or other symbols believed to repel negative influence.
