Amedeo Scognamiglio, master Cameo carver

The hand behind the Cameo

Six generations,
one pair of hands.

I learned to carve before I learned to drive. Every AMEDEO Cameo still begins the same way it did in my grandfather’s workshop in Torre del Greco — one shell, a few burins, and the patience to let a face emerge from the stone.

Nothing here is mass-made. Each piece is carved by hand, signed, and meant to outlive us both. When you wear an AMEDEO, you carry a craft that is almost three hundred years old.

ABOUT

The House of AMEDEO

Sixth-Generation Cameo Artistry

Amedeo Scognamiglio has jewelry in his DNA — the sixth generation of a family devoted to the art of Cameo carving in Torre del Greco, a tradition that has flourished since 1857.

At 14, Amedeo learned the art of carving Cameos in his father's company, M+M Scognamiglio, continuing an artistic tradition dating back to the early 1800s in his hometown of Torre del Greco.

At 29, he and his childhood friend Roberto Faraone Mennella launched the fine jewelry collection FARAONE MENNELLA by RFMAS — one of the most celebrated luxury houses in the world today.

In 2006 he opened AMEDEO, a boutique on New York City's Upper East Side dedicated to his unusual vision of Cameos, followed soon after by Capri — boldly redefining the aesthetics of a 200-year-old art form with an avant-garde design language all his own.

A contemporary approach to the ancient art of Cameo making — through alternative materials, unexpected ideas, and designs that make you smile. Amedeo Scognamiglio
