King of Cameos
By Personal Invitation Only
AMEDEO — King of Cameos
Torre del Greco has been the undisputed capital of coral and cameo carving for over three centuries — and it is where every AMEDEO story begins. This is not a tour. It is a journey into the craft behind the jewel, curated personally by Amedeo for a very small number of guests each year.
The Experience
You will have private access to the historic Museo del Corallo and to a master carver's own atelier, where you will watch, up close, a technique passed down for three centuries — and come to understand why it takes decades, not days, to master. We will walk the Golden Mile's centuries-old villas beneath Vesuvius, and share a table of Vesuvian seafood paired with Lacryma Christi wine grown on the volcano's own slopes.
And at the heart of it all, you will commission your own cameo: the subject and the story are yours to choose, guided by the maestro and an AMEDEO designer — but every cut is entrusted to a master carver's hand alone. A craft mastered over decades cannot, and should not, be presented as something learned in an afternoon. The point of this journey is to understand the art deeply, not to attempt it.

A Journey, Not a Tour
Private, after-hours access to the Museo del Corallo. An afternoon inside a real working atelier, watching a maestro cut figurative relief into layered shell — a technique built over three centuries and mastered only after decades of practice. A walk along the Golden Mile's historic villas as Vesuvius catches the evening light. A seated lunch of Vesuvian seafood, paired with Lacryma Christi wine grown on the volcano's own slopes.
And at its close: you choose the raw cameo blank, and, guided by the maestro and an AMEDEO designer, decide the subject and composition of a one-of-a-kind piece. The maestro alone carves it; AMEDEO finishes and mounts it into a finished jewel, delivered afterward with a numbered certificate of provenance tying the object to your journey and to the maestro's name.
This is by personal invitation only. We hold a limited number of departures each year, kept intentionally small so every guest has true access to the maestros and the museums.
